Michael McMillan: Farm, Forage, & Folklore Art Reception

  • Fenceline Cider 141 S Main Street Mancos United States (map)

Michael is a naturalist, gardener, and guide. Growing up hiking in the high Rockies and canyons of the Southwest, Michael fell in love with the outdoors, adventure, and learning from traditional land-based cultures. From travelling throughout Central and South America and living with Native families, years in the Southwest growing Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni corn, heirloom apples, working on a vineyard, and planting food forests, Michael loves studying the intersection of our relationship with nature, spirituality, and culture. Michael believes we need to learn from indigenous land stewardship practices and remember how to take care of our plant and animal relatives. He continues to ask the question, "What does it mean to live a life aligned with nature's rhythms?" He works as an interpretive wilderness guide, land planning consultant, and livestock manager in the Roaring Fork Valley with his business Solstice Sown Designs and the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies.
