Jody Chapel bio:
Jody Chapel is an artist who has recently traded in city streets for dirt roads. She has been an artist/art educator who has worked in public schools and with art programs helping young adults to develop workplace skills through creative arts. She practices everything she comes across: graphic design, photography, painting, mixed media, printing and beeswax (encaustic). She lives near Mancos with her husband Mark, two dogs and a cat.
Carol Mehesy bio:
Carol Mehesy is an encaustic painter who lives in Mancos, Colorado. Encaustic is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos), Encaustic painting is also known as hot wax painting and involves painting with melted beeswax, to which color has been added. The texture and colors of the wax provide a unique look. Carol’s current work focuses on exploring the essential nature of experiences through the use of simple colors and shapes. Carol grew up in Dolores and moved back after living in Denver for many years. She is excited to be back in the mountains and to be part of the creative community of Mancos.
