Fenceline Cider Brings Home Seven Medals from Summer Competitions
Fenceline Cider was recognized with three awards from this year’s Great American Cider Competition (GACC) and four awards from the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP).
The GACC awarded two of Fenceline’s hand-crafted ciders, Windfall and Tom Putt, top Platinum Awards in the French and Heritage Cider Categories, respectively. Fenceline’s Understory Elderberry was also awarded the Bronze Medal in the Fruit Cider Category.
Fenceline received four awards at GLINTCAP, with Windfall winning Gold in the Heritage Cider – Sweet category. Three Silver medals were awarded for the Seedling (Modern Cider – Dry), Tom Putt (Traditional Cider – Dry), and Spur Bearer (Rosé Cider).
Fenceline’s Windfall Cider is an award-winning French-style cider, made with French Bittersweet apples grown in Cedaredge, Colorado. The juice is fermented slowly and aged up to one year in French oak casks. Windfall is packaged in 750ml bottles.
Fenceline’s Tom Putt Cider is a single varietal cider and crafted from an apple that is uniquely one of the first to ripen and notoriously difficult to grow – the Tom Putt. With apples sourced from Shawn Carey’s Atomic Orchard, Fenceline’s Tom Putt is distinctive for its beautifully balanced acidity and tannins. Tom Putt is packaged in 750ml bottles.
“These awards validate the Windfall’s success as one of the most awarded ciders on the market from a single vintage,” says Sam Perry, Fenceline co-founder. “The Windfall has now claimed high awards not only from the GACC and GLINTCAP, but also from the Cider Craft and the New York International Cider Competition. This consistency speaks to the amazing quality of Colorado’s high county fruit. I am personally very excited to see this state becoming known as a great cider region and all the other Colorado cider producers doing so well at the National level.”
